I have tried several relatively inexpensive pedometers ($5-$15) and have been disappointed with their accuracy. This Oregon Scientific PE316CA was the best I've tried. It has a sensitivity slider that others didn't have. With this function you can adapt the sensitivity to your step energy. (Others didn't record steps when I walked lightly, only when I did "power walking".) I didn't have any issues with the latch opening the display, as others have reported. The digital display is large and easy to read. The time is always displayed, as well as the number of steps or kilometers walked or the calories burned (set by entering body weight). Your increment can also be adjusted, while some other models just use the default setting. I just have a few quibbles. Although the advertising states that both 12-hour and 24-hour clocks can be used, the instructions only state 12-hour clocks. The distance is also only displayed in miles. You can not set kilometers if you want.
