Having tried a few products designed to hold and placate baby, this one is my least favorite. Though I am hesitant to label any reasonable product with a negative review, the fact is that I don't find this product very useful and I think it falls short of competing products.First, this swing feels flimsy. When you inevitably need to move it with one hand while holding an infant in the other, there's no easy way to do that. The arched toy holder that runs across the top isn't firmly attached, so it will come off in your hand. Pulling by the legs doesn't work well either, as the legs are made up of 6 hollow tubes which have a lot of play in them and feel as though they could break if you pull on them often. The only good way to move it is with two hands, inconvenient when you're holding an infant. The legs on the Fisher-Price Deluxe Bouncer (a similarly priced product) are much more sturdy, and the unit can easily be lifted from the top. Another downside is the switch that operates the motion control. It's clunky and loud, and adjusting it inevitably startles your sleeping infant wide awake. Not good.My biggest complaint, however, is the strap system, which uses a 5 point harness that is particularly difficult to adjust because of the odd way the strap buckles are designed. Most similar products are easier to adjust and attach at only 3 points. You might think having more straps enhances safety, but not so in my experience. My baby tends to get bound up in straps coming from all directions, and it can be difficult to get him out when that inevitably goes wrong. In spite of all the straps, he seems less secure in this swing than in other products. I suspect the strap system had more input from lawyers than product engineers. The swing also consumes four C batteries at a time, which is less than ideal. It would be nice to at least have the option to buy an AC adapter if you plan to use the swing a lot. On the plus side, the swing is quiet in operation, and it is lightweight. This swing might be somewhat worthwhile as a freebie or hand-me-down, but I certainly wouldn't pay new price for it. The Fisher-Price Deluxe Bouncer seems to be better thought out and is more user-friendly for both parent and baby. We find it a lot more useful. Although it has a slightly different function, the Fisher-Price Newborn Rock 'n Play Sleeper works wonderfully. It holds the infant very snugly in a comfortable, inclined position through gravity alone. I would greatly prefer either of those products over this swing.
