First of all, use a large bowl. Unlike traditional potato mashers, this tool pushes out most of the potatoes as you try to mash them, which pushes the potatoes up and out of the bowl. Second, there is NO efficient way to scrape mashed potatoes between individual prongs, which means food waste. I used a rubber scraper to scoop out as much of the mashed potatoes as possible. Even tapping the wall of the bowl with a crusher did not bring any results. The tines remain filled with potatoes. To clean, we had to use the syringe on the sink to tap away all the potatoes under the tines. Not ideal.
