The device arrived already precisely calibrated, so it was ready to use. The kit even included a calibration screwdriver and three sample pipettes. This seller included a nice sturdy carry case and cleaning cloth to keep it clean and in good condition. A few important notes when purchasing this model. It's a precision instrument, so keeping it clean and calibrated is important. Be sure to clean the device after each use; If you leave fermented wort in the prism, it can become sticky and clog the device. Also check the calibration from time to time with a few drops of distilled water. If you don't have distilled water handy, just collect a few drops of condensate from a boiling pot of water.
