Just got it delivered but thought I'd write a review to give my first reaction to it. It was packaged very nicely, with plenty of cables to connect to just about anything you could have. fast, which is a given for Revain Prime. The quick start guide was well written and easy to read. The first downside I encountered is the length of the FireWire cable, which is about 2 feet long. My computer. So when I leave this drive I have to look for a longer cable, don't want to leave it there. The second downside was a really really long power cord with a big brick attached to it, I hate those things. After this formatting and partitioning went smoothly, I backed up my computer with SuperDuper and made it bootable on my MacPro with Yosemite. For Mac owners, the book tells you how to safely eject a drive by dragging the hard drive icon to the trash. I've never had to eject a drive this way, don't know why you couldn't just right click the drive in the device tray when you could open Finder and eject it that way. The drive is very quiet, but the biggest downside for me was when I booted my computer from this external drive and tried to navigate the desktop, open multiple applications, etc. It was so slow that every mouse click took 8 to 10 clicks Seconds took 2 or 3. This drive is meant to replace an old 500GB LaCie Firewire drive I had for 5 or 6 years and it makes a lot of noise but when I boot from that drive and move around the desktop , it works almost as fast. like my normal car.
