I've lost (forgotten) chargers while traveling, some of them have been damaged (usually the cable is destroyed by a dog, cat or smart vacuum cleaner) and I always want to have a power bank in my backpack and one on the table. I've had several of these and to be honest they were all pretty good. But it's a 65W PSU, and that's one of the reasons you should buy one (besides the excellent $18.99 cost). For the Surface Pro 7 to work properly, you need 65 watts. It runs on a 45W PSU, or even the 24W PSU used for previous generations, but you'll need the 65W version that comes with the Pro 7 to work properly. If you have an older version. Surface Pro you still need 65W as it works fine with older models and if you upgrade it you will probably need 65W and your old charger won't work properly. This device features a USB Type-A port, so you can charge your peripherals without using the laptop's USB port. The power cord is detachable, making it easy to carry in a backpack or computer bag, but the Surface's distinctive side is attached to the device. That's the only negative for me, but then again, I've had and have had about a dozen chargers since my first Surface Pro 3, and only one has a detachable cable on this side.
