mediocre performance for its price range

I have had my identity stolen in the past so I always try to destroy documents that may contain ANY personal information which means I destroy documents often. My last shredder stopped working after many years and eventually died. I needed a new shredder and you expect a shredder in this price range to be pretty good and last a long time. It is best suited for protecting sensitive information. It cuts paper well. I always remove staples and metal before shredding, although that suggests he can shred them. Unfortunately, that's all he can destroy. In this price range, most of these machines can shred credit cards and even DVDs. I don't usually need them, but when I get a new bank card or credit card I usually throw them in the car, so now I have to cut them by hand. Sheets at the same time, but lacks a key feature I'd expect at this price point, which is auto-feed. It's either on or off. It's quieter than my previous chopper, so I'd say it's pretty quiet, but you'll definitely hear it anyway. The controls are easy to use and uncluttered, with an on/off button and reverse if you get stuck. It holds plenty of paper thanks to its 6-gallon bin, and a clear window lets you look inside to see how full it is. While it works well as advertised, I only deducted one star because its price is in a range that usually includes more features and doesn't seem to have any other added value that would offset the higher final price.
