The converter arrived on September 16th and after using it for 4 weeks (October 6th) it still works perfectly! I have an integrated AMD A8 graphics card and a DVI-D input on the mainboard. I wanted to connect 2 VGA monitors with a resolution of 1440x900 and 1280x1024 to my computer. After hours and days of research and helping a friend to see if it's possible to connect VGA to DVI-D, he came to the conclusion that you can't just use a converter to connect VGA to DVI-D to connect because you send VGA. analog signals only. I first bought a $5.50 gray painted plastic converter with DVI-D on the front and VGA on the back. As soon as it arrived I stuck the converter into the DVI-D connector as tightly as I could so it wouldn't move, and then I plugged in my VGA cable. I turned on the computer and as a result it did not work. After I was about to give up and stick with just one monitor, the StarTech converter was my last resort. The $25 converter was a little scary as someone in the review said it didn't work after 3 days, but I took a chance. Now let's move on to the converter review. It was an easy install, all you had to do was plug it in. I'm not sure if the USB cable to the converter actually sends more power to the converter as other reviewers have said it doesn't need it. After I connected my 1440x900 to the converter and 1280x1024 to the VGA connector, 1440x900 eventually became the #1 monitor. In terms of performance, for example, when I wake up my computer with a screensaver, Monitor #1 wakes up immediately. But monitor #2 wakes up immediately, but sometimes it takes about 2 1/2 seconds to wake up, but that doesn't bother me anyway.
