Review on πŸ’» Komputerbay 4GB DDR2 800MHz PC2-6400 Desktop Memory Kit - 2X 2GB DIMM 240-Pin RAM by Andrew Holman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

50% failure in 6 months, supplier didn't live up to the lifetime guarantee

The reviews were good so I bought 8GB (4 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz) for my HP desktop. The komputerbay memory worked fine when installed and for 5 months, but then the PC started to become unstable. After a few days of testing, swapping out the memory, and running memtest 86+, I narrowed it down to the komputerbay's faulty RAM bar. It's supposed to have a lifetime warranty so I contacted the seller who said they would send a new flash drive but never did. Now, a month later, another 2GB module has failed, so 50% of that memory has failed in less than 6 months, and the manufacturer has failed on their promise to back it with a lifetime warranty. That's a particularly poor failure rate, which makes me wonder about the quality of this memory. I swapped the remaining 2 komputerbay blocks to avoid further problems. RAM errors are unpredictable and not worth the risk of data corruption before you can figure out what's going on. Look for a reputable seller who can provide better RAM, or at least keep their promise to replace bad blocks under a lifetime warranty.
