Yes these are windshields and they do the job well in most cases but I didn't want to buy them. We have a pretty decent home karaoke system. This means that my children are regularly visited by friends to sing. Our friends visit us too. Have you ever seen what people do with a karaoke microphone? . . especially after a few cocktails? The mic has more lips and tongue than ever in high school. To be honest it's a bit gross. I honestly don't know how good they are at keeping germs out, but as soon as the karaoke party is over, I throw out the windshield, sanitize the mic, and put on a new one for the next party. Another perk is that the windshield also doubles as a buffer for the inevitable fall of the drunk mic after a typically awful performance of Baby Got Back. . . Please ban this song from karaoke forever! But I digress. I agree with them and highly recommend them!
