I bought this cable to remount the antenna on the mast of my sailboat. Mast length 33 feet. In addition, the wiring harness to get into the cockpit and I needed almost the entire length. I connected the ends to match what I needed (not what came on the cable) and I was done. Tested with the radio at the end of the wire and with the mast below the tree line on the trestle, got an accurate sea weather forecast over the radio and quite a few boaters who were probably in the coastal area. I was in a straight line at the Gibson Dry Docks in San Mateo, Florida, many miles offshore. I wouldn't normally find this funny, but the mast lay sideways about 3 feet off the ground in a ton of thick wood and plant wall. This means that reception over this cable will definitely be excellent if the antenna is 43 feet up in the air and in territorial waters and perhaps will carry the signal from one source or another to the Caribbean Sea. but also pull me nice and strong all the way there. Of course, the laws of physics apply, but I have no doubt that a signal that can be received or transmitted according to these laws will be much better than the RG-8 that came with my sailboat when it was new. . My radio's power rating will also be much higher than the RG-8 allows. The cable is much stiffer than the old one and I made sure to install it with minimal kinks. It wrapped once around the cross pin at the top of the mast (to hold it in place without stressing the antenna mount or chafing the hole where it exits the mast wall), but I added a few layers of thick heat shrink tubing to keep the chafing spots in case something tries to rub through the hole (the previous wire that seemed to have been struck by lightning had several spots where the insulation was almost completely worn away due to friction). I don't think I will replace this line in my lifetime, or at least as long as I have this boat. Setting up the ends was probably the hardest part of the operation, and it wasn't too bad yet. You can get conversion connectors for this without replacing the originals, but I was concerned not wanting to lose a signal from the connectors. The incredible signal retention was one of the reasons I started with this cable as I had 2 full spools of other cables on hand and had already paid for them when I bought this cable to use instead.
