A Good Little Mixer

This was my first time trying an epoxy resin mixer, & I'm pleased with the results. While the product does feel a little cheap and flimsy (the mixing wand is a little jiggly), it does what it's supposed to, & that's all I need.So far, I've only used it for small batches of resin, & I've used it continually for 3 minute increments where I swap between clockwise and counter clockwise rotations. The handle does noticeably heat (felt through my nitrile gloves) by the end of that time, but it has yet to interfere with the mixer's performance.I do get bubbles by the end of the mixing time (pictured), but they're nothing compared to mixing by hand. Also, the worst of it seems to be avoidable if I don't bump the wand on the floor of the mixing cup. Additionally, I leave my resin to settle for a minute or two and do a quick torch of the surface before pouring it onto my tiles, canvas, etc. Again compared to hand mixing, I have to deal with far less bubbles that are easier to pop. No complaints there.I did have a bit of a dur moment when I attached the mixing paddle the first time. I couldn't get it to push in very far so it'd quickly wiggle loose and fall off when I turned the device on. Well, long story short, it turns out it was a combo of not pulling up enough on the shank that loosens the chamber for the paddle while also not pushing said paddle in with enough force. I guess I'm not coordinated lol. Oh well, I figured it out.For the record, in reference to my comment in an earlier paragraph, the mixing paddle is still a little jiggly, even when properly installed.Cleanup is easy. While I haven't used the mixer for paint yet, I've used it on resin 4 or 5 times, & I leave the mixing paddle to drip into a silicone bowl for a brief period before wiping it once with a dry paper towel and then doing it again with a paper towel dipped in alcohol. Minimal mess and fuss. Huzzah! My mixer arrived with next to no battery life so I had to charge it right away. Approx 5 hours to charge is accurate, & I haven't needed to recharge it yet.I'm happy with my order and look forward to testing the mixer on paint for fluid art soon.

Pros
  • This mixer is compact and easy to store, so you can keep it on hand whenever you need it, without taking up valuable shelf or storage space
Cons
  • May not evenly mix resin, resulting in inconsistent results
