Review on Gardman R352 Black Garden Obelisk - 96" High For Elevated Garden Style by Michael Pickering

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This thing is HUGE!

This thing is HUGE! It was much larger than I expected. I knew the height would be about 6 feet, but its much taller than that and its very wide and the girth of the poles are more than a inch in diameter giving it an overall look of just large large large. It actually looks somewhat silly in my small garden, being so large, but it would look fantastic in a larger garden where most structures bought online look dwarfed. I feel like my 4 year old could use it as a jungle gym (but for obvious safety reasons I don't recommend that). This can support a large climbing vine or a rose, which is what I bought it for. If I had one complaint, is that it should have come with some sort of pointy inserts for the ends so that it would be easier to insert into the ground. The large poles are somewhat difficult to get in the ground to the recommended 18 inches. My husband and I were only able to get ours in about 12 inches at most. As a result its not as sturdy as I would have liked, but that's just laziness on my part as we could have dug holes. I just had too many plantings in the area already and didn't want to dig up the garden. For the price you cant beat it.PS. if you are having trouble assembling, make sure you have the poles facing in the correct direction. The poles have a section that is hammered in where the holes are for the screws and this indentation needs to be aligned when you place the screw. If you fail to do that, the screws will come loose as and it may seem as if they are just a tad too short for good assembly, when in fact the pole is just the wrong way around.

Pros
  • The obelisk is a great addition to garden decor, enhancing the overall aesthetics of the space
Cons
  • The structure may intimidate visitors or guests, making the garden less inviting
