This is the softest vest I have ever bought for my dogs. She loves it. She is a 13 lb Rat Terrier mix. I went by the size chart they provided and although I think it's a small to medium sized dog I bought the X-Large. It seems a bit strange buying this size for her but I'm glad I did. She has a long back so she doesn't cover her shoulder to her butt, but San Diego gets hot (at least during the day) so I wasn't looking for something to keep her warm like I was. back in December. I put it on in the morning so she'll be comfy and a little warm on the way to work (she's an office dog). It's perfect. In addition, vests should not cover the entire body. The inner material is very soft.
