When I saw just one LED my first impression was that I needed multiple LEDs to get the brightness I wanted, but when I saw the power of this big LED I got braver! Wow! This brightness, especially with the zoom function, can be very useful for spotting a small hydraulic fluid leak on the tail of a large jet aircraft during inspection bypass, parking in a dimly lit area, or camping outdoors at night. The only reason for the 4.5 star rating was my inability to strobe, which my son stopped after several attempts. I recycle flashlights regularly, mainly because incandescent bulbs don't last long and finding an exact replacement can be difficult. I'm sure this flashlight will last a long time!
