Review on Dimensions Needlecrafts Needle Character Penguin by Denise Davis

This set is for fulling beginners and shows how to form a small figure out of pieces of wool. Let's just say my finished product didn't look anything like the animal on the front of the kit. I didn't find the instructions clear at all - it said to "feel" the balls of yarn, but for how long? The single pattern gives you the expected finished size, not the starting size or length/how to felt. When you feel different colors together, there is no pattern to show you where to put them together. My penguin looked more like a snowman with a male bald head. I am an experienced seamstress and craftswoman but this was my first experience with felting. Maybe I'm just bad at it! But if something is marketed for beginners (and even kids), I think there should be more detailed instructions. I was very surprised because Dimensions cross stitch kits always have incredibly detailed instructions. On the other hand, if you have felting experience and you know what you're doing, I'm sure it's an adorable penguin!
