Xylitol has proven beneficial for dental health and this toothpaste has it, and it also contains far less toxic ingredients than regular toothpaste. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn't test for toxins and doesn't even have very good regulations for personal care products. Spry and Earth Paste (looks like dirt and doesn't foam, but cleans teeth) are the best I've found. Tom's of Maine was sold to Colgate and is therefore based on low-cost production. Sad.
