Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens, black by Nguyen Kim Chi ᠌

A good product at a good price, I advise you to try it.

This fifty dollars is probably ideal if this is your first lens. For little money you get an excellent high-aperture fix, which is able to shoot both a portrait, and a landscape, and a moderate macro. But after a while you begin to understand that the "universality" of the 50 mm focal length is a double-edged sword. After using lenses with a focal length of 85 or more, you understand that your fifty dollars is not suitable for portraits - there is too much distortion. After using wider-angle optics, you feel that with this lens it’s a bit crowded for you to shoot the “genre” indoors, and in open spaces there is no such dynamics that would already be at a distance of 24.

Pros
  • Aperture, affordable price, bokeh, color reproduction. This is generally a very "beautiful" lens.
Cons
  • "Universal" focal length, very soft sharpness at aperture less than 2.2. Specifically, my copy has back focus. It broke twice, and both times due to "deformation of the focusing ring."
