I like WD and usually have good luck with their drives. Unfortunately, that slice is a lemon. Bought a new 2010 13.3 MBP (Mac Book Pro). I got this drive for an upgrade so I can run both OSX and Win 7 and have plenty of room for data. Disc 1 was inherently problematic. Lots of freezes etc. I ran the WD diagnostics from the website - the drive failed a quick test. I ordered another one from Amazon and got a refund for this one. I'm Amazon Prime and I love it as I can ship within 2 days at no extra cost. The 2nd disc lasted 2-3 months. booted the system last night and windows had to do a full chkdsk (BAD SIGN). 4 KB found in bad sectors (REALLY BAD SIGN) after 8 hours of full disk scan and repair. WD diagnostics run - the drive passed the short test but failed the extended test. More bad sectors appear every hour - a clear mistake. RMAd disks on WD site and they send disk #3 - probably another bug. I just bought the WD 750GB version from Amazon (1 day) as I need to get started asap. Will use or sell the new 640 for backups (backups need to be reliable). Really wanted a different brand but it seems all 2.5 SATA have issues in this capacity range (look online). Stay away from the 640 - bad luck on the internet.
