Saves money compared to renting a modem.
This is the exact model my local ISP rents for $15 a month. It paid for itself in just a few months and works well with the WiFi router I have (the device itself is just a modem - not WiFi). No signal loss from the device itself (provider has bad weather issues). I bought it refurbished and it looks and works like new.
