The cable broke within a week.

I decided on this cheese slicer because the wire sits differently than on my previous (cheap plastic) slicers. so i thought it might last longer. I figured I'd pay a little more and get a better product. The food slicer seems to be solidly made, but the wire didn't last longer than with plastic. Also, the handle is a bit shorter than I prefer which makes sliding a bit awkward but not a game changer.
