Review on ๐Ÿ’ป SilverStone ML03B MicroATX Power Supply by Janis Libeks แ Œ

Everything in the purchase suits, a very necessary product.

In this building attracts, first of all, the price. Well, and a banal desire to take possession of a compact case in order to fill it with a powerful stuffing. In fact, when assembling a computer, you encounter a bunch of problems - there is nowhere to put the power supply cables (but there are ears for attaching cables to the case, although there are few of them), hard drive cables interfere and the hard drives themselves, fans are also not installed without problems, plus where You also need to hide their cables. The manufacturer warns in advance about the limitations in the size of the PSU and the optical drive - both should not be longer than 170mm. ONLY mATX or mini-ITX motherboards can be installed in the case. In general, if the appearance of the insides of a computer is not in last place for you, then you will have to suffer during assembly. My opinion on this case is that it is ideal for assembling a media center / HTPC (this is its main purpose, as it is positioned from the manufacturer), or for creating a nice work computer, or a PC for school (but you can find a cheaper case for these purposes). For him, it is better to immediately look for a modular power supply unit, with detachable cables. And also immediately find a low-profile CPU cooler. If these two requirements are met (and the first is optional), in the end, you can assemble a computer without any problems. In my case, old hardware was used: Mat. ASUS P5L-MX board; Processor Intel Dual Core E2160; Cooler Zalman CNPS7000V-AlCu(PWM); RAM 1.5GB Kingston KVR667d2n5; Video card ASUS GT610-SL-1GD3-L; Power supply HIPRO HP-D4302RWR2; Case fans 4pcs, from different manufacturers, connected through resistors; Hard disk WD 160Gb, IDE (temporarily, for lack of a better one). Still, it would be nice if the case was a little more, by 10 percent, or at least there was a separate compartment for laying cables.

Pros
  • 1) Appearance. Looks solid at least. The only not very pleasant moment, in my opinion, is the corrugated front panel (looks like it was milled); 2) Dimensions. The case is compact, but at the same time roomy; 3) Compatible with conventional ATX power supplies; 4) The manufacturer carefully put a set of fasteners, including several reusable clamps for tying forever tangled cables. Fasteners for 4 coolers (on the right side) are not included. In addition, silicone anti-vibration pads are installed on one seat under the hard drive. The kit includes instructions in 2022, as well as a filter grill on a magnetic mount for installation above the CPU cooler. By default, the same filter, only on ordinary bolts, is installed under the power supply; 5) The presence of USB3.0 connectors on the front panel; 6) Made with high quality, strong. There is a removable rib (although structurally it is not a rib at all) of stiffness, which allows you to install any not very heavy objects on the case, such as a small TV. In the slots for expansion devices (PCI, PCI-E), by default, not blind plugs are installed, but perforated ones with holes. In addition, the attachment of expansion devices itself deserves special praise - first it (the device) is inserted into the counterpart (there are special grooves for this purpose at the bottom of the case), and then it is bolted from above. It turns out unrealistically strong and reliable.
Cons
  • 1) You need to carefully choose a cooler for the processor. Only low-profile coolers are supported (which is not surprising given the size of the case); 2) Not enough space inside. Despite the fact that, according to the manufacturer, you can install two 3.5 "and one 2.5" or 5 2.5" hard drives in the case, you really canโ€™t turn around there. Either the cables from the power supply are in the way, or something else will definitely prevent you from installing it correctly. In my In this case, 1 hard drive bay (under the drive) had to be sacrificed for the sake of laying extra cables from the power supply. But even so, I can hardly fit a 3.5" hard drive and there is room for one 2.5" hard drive (plus a free slot for an optical drive) Perhaps the situation will change using a PSU with detachable cables, or a more compact PSU; 3) There may be problems with the cooling of the components (but most likely there will be no such problems); 4) The body is painted with very bad paint! It so happened that I had to install the coolers on the side twice (there are 4 seats on the right). On the second time, all the paint crumbled from under the bolt.
