If you already own a grater, you might think the Cuisipro V Grater is just another version of it. But you would be wrong. What this grater offers is amazing quality in several areas, making it an absolute highlight among kitchen graters. The first thing you'll notice is the size: 13.5" x 1.5" (across the grater). The handle offers a comfortable and stable grip that's soft to the touch but rough enough to ensure it stays in place even when your hands are wet. An additional factor in the stability of the grater is the non-slip end when the surface of the grater is heated. Set it up at an angle to allow food to fall into the bowl or dish and stay where it is. And in a particularly thoughtful way, the grater comes with a tough, transparent protective case that doubles as a measuring device (in both US and metric units). I am impressed by the care and foresight that we have taken to transform this device from a simple disposable device into an amazingly sophisticated yet easy to use grater. The grating part is made with "Surface Slip Technology", which means that the surface of the grate makes grating easier, which is an important improvement when you have to grate a lot. (I grate nutmeg and tangerine peel for Thanksgiving cranberry sauce; because of the relatively long ridges that allow for grating more food with each pass, I can see where what used to be a tedious part is done. Quick and easy. Chocolate (which I grated tonight for cookies and as a topping for hot chocolate came out great, very little was left on the bottom of the grater which made me happy.) Note that the protective cover can be used to catch food , if you don't Grate it straight into a bowl or plate. Grater and protective cover are easy to clean; no soaking required. To be honest I didn't find any cons for this grater. On the contrary, I was initially surprised at how versatile this special grater is, and it's already an integral part of my kitchen.
