Review on ICETrekkers Shoe Chains - Enhance Winter Traction (1 Pair) by Devin Maselli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

As non-slip as it can be without crampons.

They work like chains on boots. They are ideal for cleaning/clearing the driveway. For serious off-road hiking I would buy some crampons. The chains are distributed in such a way that you do not feel any bumps on the soles of your feet. This has not been the case with some other traction products I have used. I'm a size 12 and the boots I've worn them on are non-insulated Cabela work boots and Merrell 400g insulated hiking boots (all leather, back when Merrell didn't make boots and sewed a few trimmings together). The XL size ICE trekkers are fairly easy to put on and take off, easy to position and don't move at all during use. (They fit perfectly in the grooves between my ears, so you might have a different experience with the ear pattern on your boots.) My 1500g insulated Sorel boots are big enough that I don't try to put them on. So if you are 12 years old, size XL will fit in any boot except super insulated winter boots. I wouldn't expect them to work on running shoes. Keep them indoors when not in use, when they are cold, they are not easy to slip on. Rubber and chains appear to be of high quality. Don't leave them on your boots all the time, you will shorten the life of the rubber. I throw mine in a bath of warm water for a few seconds to get rid of dirt and salt, then immediately hang them up to dry. The cost of this product is small considering it can save me the cost of a broken hip.
