The heater looks great right out of the box, better than I expected for $13. It shows the spiral inside the heater and gives it a cool industrial look. That's all I understood. The glass feels thin when held, a little thicker than a lightbulb but not by much, at least not compared to other heaters. what i had Anyway, when I installed it in the tank, I installed it too quickly and it cracked in half leaving broken glass on the carpet. Luckily it wasn't in the tank when it broke as I can't imagine replacing all the gravel in a 75 gallon tank on Christmas Eve. Anyway, if you're willing to take the risk, it looks cool and has decent instructions.
