Review on πŸ’ͺ Silver 1/2-inch Drive Split Beam Torque Wrench with Flex Head by Precision Instruments - PREC3FR250F by Greg Lockhart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Precision Instruments is the epitome of not keeping promises, but delivering them in abundance!

This is the best 1/2 inch drive torque wrench I have ever owned. I have a Precision Instruments torque comparator that I use regularly to check the accuracy of my torque wrenches. The key is significantly more accurate than the 4% accuracy claimed by PI. Time will tell how PI's split beam design maintains its accuracy over the long term compared to other types of torque wrenches. These keys hold their accuracy very well over the years (I'll provide future updates when I've racked up a few miles). Precision Instruments seem to know how not to promise or deliver, which puts them in line with a very select group of companies in this space. They let their products sell shares themselves. The feel is excellent and the click is distinctive, if a bit quiet on lower settings. I find this a problem, but I can imagine what it might be like if you have poor hearing and work in a very noisy shop. My only other criticism is that I wish it was a bit longer for a wrench with a 250 ft/lb max speed. I find that when torque is over 200 ft/lbs applying torque evenly can be a little awkward compared to the longer wrenches I own. It's not really a big deal, but it's something to consider before you buy. One final note, I emailed PI with a few questions about this wrench prior to purchasing from Revain and received a prompt, courteous, and comprehensive response to my questions.
