polymer putty for kids

I bought this putty hoping it would be easy to use and it is. The problem is that it looks like polymer clay, similar but different to the Sculpey and Fimo brands. Trying to sculpt with this clay is not easy for professionals like me. Every detail I put into this "polymer clay" melting clay becomes too soft and pliable to hold its shape. Trying to freeze this clay doesn't work, it doesn't harden like a sculptor, freezing hardens the polymer clay so it doesn't soften as you add detail. Using talc to smooth fingerprints strengthens the plasticine, but it wears out over time, and too much of it makes it difficult to add detail. And thinking that you're baking this at 275 degrees in an oven or toaster doesn't work, it actually melts the clay. So I had to search for this "Color of Holi" for 15 minutes only to find out from a blog that you bake this clay at 135 degrees. Don't be fooled, this is nothing but Sculpey or polymer clay. Given the price and quality of this type of polymer clay, it's great for kids but not for professionals. You literally have to adapt to make it work.

Pros
  • putty
Cons
  • boring packaging

It helps to have a very large toaster oven dedicated to just polyclay figures.
