Review on 🐾 Petmate Two Door Pet Kennel: Optimal Enclosure for Small Pets Under 15 Pounds by Sarah Felder

About a year ago my boyfriend and I adopted a 6 month old kitten and of course we needed a carrier for her so we bought a smaller Petmate. As she grew up, we realized that she was a bit small for her. We took her on a trip to Florida and although she could lie down normally, she had absolutely no room to stand. When we adopted our second kitten last September, we knew we needed something bigger so we could fit both cats in if needed. In late November we decided to go to Minnesota for Christmas and bring cats, so I got into the Revain and started looking for carriers. We had a fight between this and the trendy Aspen Pet Taxi, also from Petmate, because it was an enlarged version of our old one. Both straps we looked at were larger, NOT small. The size of this carrier was 24 inches. We liked the Aspen Pet Taxi because it had two compartments on top for storing treats, which was great, but we chose this van for the two-door option. I have to say it was absolutely the right choice. The top door lets in more light and makes the transport box more open rather than a narrow little compartment. Also, the two-door option allows us to place cats in two different ways, which we found with the top door makes life a lot easier (not that difficult!) The biggest plus is that not only can the cat sit in this carrier, but our two cats fit comfortably in it and have plenty of room to move around. Cats stayed in the carrier for most of the trip to Minnesota, but I think that was because they were more comfortable in the carrier than in an open car since we have the carrier at home open and let them explore as they wished. I bought this stretcher for only $28 which I absolutely felt the lute is a bargain and am waiting for the price to drop closer to $30 to buy another one as it would be nice if every cat would have one. The only downside is that it's very unstable to carry because it's so big and the cat has room to move around as the cat shifts its weight back and forth from front to back. However, this is a very small issue that does not affect my rating of this carrier. The price of Revain compared to other stores (PetSmart, PetCo, Walmart, etc.) is about the same everywhere, maybe a little cheaper at Revain. Overall, I highly recommend this carrier not only for cats but also for small dogs. Even at $36, it's still a good deal. UPDATE: Having had some comments regarding two cats in a carrier, I thought I'd clarify a bit in my review. One cat was a year and a half old, the other a six-month-old kitten that was not yet fully grown. We only had the tailgate closed when getting in and out and also in heavily trafficked areas. In addition, the cats were free to move about in the car and had access to the litter box, but preferred to sleep together in the carrier most of the time. When our kitten reached adult size we bought another of these carriers and currently use both when traveling or taking cats to the vet. For short journeys, e.g. B. to the vet clinic, we may be able to use one carrier for both cats, but the carrier can be quite heavy and difficult to carry with two cats inside.
