After months of trying to stream DLNA content to my PS3 over 54G I stumbled across a wireless device gaming trendnet adapter. The price is great and when I got it from Revain I was pleasantly surprised that it was a lot less than I expected. It's about the size of a wallet and hides very well next to the PS3. I was a little disappointed to find that the installation required a direct connection to a PC running the installer on the CD. The adapter has a built-in ROM-based interface (not detailed in the documentation), but you must run this setup first. (Some documents and specifications are a bit vague; for example I still want to know if the ethernet port 100 or 1000 is full). However, in a very short time I was ready to go. The good thing about it: It's really fast! Any lags I previously experienced with Cat5e cable or 54G WiFi are gone. Streaming directly from Netflix works fine, and streaming from my PlayOn PC worked much better. I connect it to my Belkin 802.11n Network+ router. However, it didn't take long to discover a major problem. The adapter was disconnected from the wireless network between uses. It doesn't matter if I left the PS3 on or off. I tried setting a static IP on the PS3 with no improvement. Each time only disconnecting and reconnecting the PSU with the reset worked. After that, the PS3's DHCP request will be accepted and everything will be fine until the next time (usually the next day). Since I couldn't find anything online, I tried many settings until I found a combination that worked. I needed to access the Trendnet adapter's interface from a PC on the wireless network via a browser, whatever was assigned by the router, something like [.] I disabled MMS - basically a QoS setting, and I have that Bandwidth changed from 20 to 20/40. Now it stays online for days and works fine. I am very happy with the product now that this issue is resolved. I suspect the issue is due to a minor incompatibility between the adapter and my Belkin 802.11n only 2.4GHz router. especially since most people seem to be like that good luck with yours. If you have the same problem, try these settings.
