Sky blue matches the sky blue iPad Air perfectly. The front of the case is smooth with a softer bottom that makes contact with the iPad's screen. The back of the case is rigid. The sides and corners are flexible and soft. Most importantly, the right side of the iPad is fully protected by the case and there is a cut-out on the case for a magnetic pen attachment. This is definitely a thin case that still protects against bumps and knocks. Scratch. However, I don't know if your iPad will survive a fall in this case or any other non-bulky case.
