Review on Leifheit Cherry Stoner: Pit Catcher Container, Enhanced Ergonomic Handle, and Anti-Slip Rubber Feet by Jeremy Camacho

The best little car ever!

Wow I'm glad I have this core remover! I have two dwarf cherry trees and they produced a truckload of fruit this year and last year. For the first £10 I didn't have this little machine yet so I literally made it by hand. And my poor thumbs were literally pissed off too when I finished carving them after about 6 hours of work. Enter Leifheit. Last night I lost 20 pounds in 2 hours. The hole itself is a breeze. First you need to practice a little to get comfortable. First, remember to remove the cardboard tab surrounding the punch and insert one of the rubber tabs into the designated slot on the machine before using it for the first time! Putting the machine on a slightly higher surface (I used a cutting board) helps as the run is a bit low making it difficult to find the right cherry picking bowl. Also, I like to hold the cherries in the hopper with my hand so they don't pool on the bottom where the puncher hits. Cherries are very fragile and soft, so they really get pressed together there. For example, if you make sweet cherries like Bing cherries, this will not happen. Well, once I figured out my "feeding" technique, everything else was a breeze. I had a good rhythm and I quickly filled all those cherries. But you have to be careful that the fruit doesn't slip through "unbroken" if you don't want to find a bone in the jam later! That's why I control the flow of fruit into the shoot with my hand. Good luck finding and retrieving those spilled, not entered, cherries in the bowl if they slipped lol! Leifheit. I'm very glad I did! My fingers are already thanking me! Clean up was easy too. Simply disassemble the handle, rinse under running water with a soft brush around the stamp, wash the container and lid, dry everything and you're done. Be sure to save the little rubber pads so you don't lose them! When reinserting the hammer into the handle, DO NOT place the part on the surface or push the hammer inward. I say that because the small, very hard and sharp striking head at the end of the bar protrudes further than the handle and will damage any surface it hits as it falls with a thud and vengeance. So it's better to do it "in the air" by just holding it with both hands. Like everything Leifheit makes, this machine is very well built and will last for many years! If you make cherries, this is a must! I've added some photos for better demonstration, I hope you enjoy them. If you found this review helpful, please let me know! Thank you!
