I spent 15 quality hours with my 8 year old daughter building this house. It was she who chose him. She wanted to do it with me, even though the rating is +14 for a reason. It has been our most challenging and rewarding project to date. Not to mention that each of us spends 15 hours less with electronics. The instructions are great, they are mostly visual with a bit of English. I found absolutely no problems with them. Now English is in need of improvement, there are spelling and grammatical errors here and there (e.g. "years" on the box are written as "yes"), but nothing prevents you from building a quality. Some of the pictures in the instructions were too small for me to see. Pieces (e.g. beads) and there is free space on the paper to make them 2 or 4 times larger. But that was not a problem for my daughter, she found them easily. Maybe I should go to the eye doctor again. The glue that comes with it is good. We decided to glue everything from the start as we anticipate moving the house and one day other species will come and play with it. I used $5 Gorilla Wood Glue to help. The main problem was gluing the metal to the plastic. I couldn't get it right so I drilled some holes in the tiny plastic balls and in the wood for the metal wire to go through. I made this for the teapot, teacups and hangers. These holes required some skill, but this was the solution that worked for me. I found this to be different than Lego as it requires your personal touch in everything. You can get two identical Lego sets from two identical sets, but I doubt you can get the same thing with this house. We ended up having a few spares left, so my daughter decided to put a plant at the top of the stairs and a round pillow on the bed. Your bonding technique will determine the quality of the final project. I don't normally do projects with glue, so we started out a little rough, with too much glue, and ended up in some places with the kind of glue that can hold a needle at its dangerous end. You will also need clips and elastic hair as some parts take longer to dry. That was the case with the couch as it's fabric on fabric and we had to press the fabric between the pieces so hard that the wood was almost touching the wood. We used clips and rubber bands to hold the pieces in place for 30 minutes while the glue dries. You need to make sure you have very good resolution for your eyes - either naturally or with glasses or a magnifying glass. I can't see very well close to a few inches so some parts were misaligned. In the electrical part we had to use a few extra wires. We got them from a broken iPhone charger. It would help if the included LED cables were a bit longer, maybe 2 inches, and also a bit longer than the included cable. It's just that I'm an engineer and I want all the wires to run horizontally and vertically instead of diagonally. All the wires on the back are now taped over so they don't hang around because your fingers can accidentally pull them out when you move the house. For most fabrics we glued the paper first and then glued the paper/fabric to the bottom. Much better and easier for us than a single fabric. As with the lamps, we first glued a small piece of tissue paper to the plastic lamp and then glued the metal decoration to the paper. Complaints. I highly recommend this project, it's very exciting. My daughter now wants the whole collection. Good problem, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.
