My 12 year old wanted an FPV drone for Christmas. My independent research led to Altair and this drone. Another interesting feature was the hover mode or "altitude hold". After launching the drone on Christmas morning, we were unable to calculate altitude hold; The drone just kept climbing towards the ceiling. It wasn't uncontrollably fast, but you couldn't take your hand off the controls. The FPV function, which connects your phone to the drone's own WiFi, was also unsuitable for flight control. The video stream was quite slow even though it WAS clear. We emailed Altair Support to see if we missed anything during setup. On CHRISTMAS DAY we received an email reply that the drone was not working properly and they could send a replacement if we wanted. I sent them my mailing address and they sent a backup drone when it was convenient for me as we were going out of town for a while. The replacement drone is everything we hoped for AND MORE. Piloting is smooth. The video from the drone to the phone is transferred smoothly without any lag. Altitude hold is near perfect. While it was a bit of a shame to have an imperfect drone on Christmas morning, the customer service, support and response has been nothing short of phenomenal. Our current drone performs exactly as advertised and expected. My child is now just very happy with his gift.
