I gave 4 stars just because I haven't used it on vacation yet. However, I turned it on. If I had skimmed the reviews and noticed that the word "quiet" was on it, I probably wouldn't have bought it. I was looking for something with sound because I sleep with the fan on at night when I'm at home. This fan is REALLY noisy, especially at high speed. And when I'm sitting next to the bed, I think it might be loud enough to get the job done. I've looked at small devices that say "white noise" but I've never tried them and I don't know what they sound like. I will update this review if I decide another option might be better.
