Review on Thick Graduated Measuring Cylinder Brushes by Alex Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

These cylinders are great. But eyedroppers are terrible, graduated ones are useless.

Cylinders are excellent, very happy with them; everything arrived intact, the cylinders are thick and strong, they withstand extremes of temperature that soda-lime glass would hardly withstand, they appear to be made of good borosilicate 33, and the graduations are at least as accurate as I need them to be. I've used them nine days out of nine since I received them with several different organic solvents and strong acids and to measure chemicals over a fairly wide temperature range (about 290°K to 400°K). So far everything has held up perfectly, H2S04 or HCl types tech+ were not etched after a longer exposure time, and the graduation remained intact. Great deal for such a low price, 20+ years ago I would have paid multiples for just one of the 50ml or 100ml bottles if I could even find things like that around town. The fact that I can easily buy a brand new Buchner funnel of almost any type for $10-50 or a Graham/Liebig funnel/flask/racks/many more and whether they arrive today or tomorrow is mind blowing. I guess "they" haven't made home/small lab chemistry that only contains legal compounds illegal yet! Pipettes are rubbish, especially the measuring pipette, which is completely unusable when delivered. The bulb is so loose that it just falls out when you turn it over, but the glass itself has a notch that makes it compatible with another drip bulb I've had. I can't get the whole cube out right now, but well, maybe someday I'll hide the original bulb somehow. I just put an end to the terrible pipettes. I don't need any more pipettes but I'm sure some people who buy this set will and I really expected the graduated pipette to be at least functional without falling apart or falling apart and breaking. the first time I try to use it, which would definitely happen if I tried to adapt it to the original bulb.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power
