Soot + Acoustic (Quark) Ceiling = Nightmare. I lit an oil lantern the size of a teacup and placed it on a ledge in my apartment. Then he went about his business. After a few hours it seemed to me that I had opened a portal to hell. Black soot flowed in all directions. It reached 12 feet but was very intense up to 4 feet, which included an annoying acoustic blanket. When I googled "soot-free acoustic ceiling" the answer was usually "call the contractor for a price on replacement, sucker.", there was a YouTube video that suggested "digging out". This sponge was the closest I could find and the helpful feedback from other users (including advice not to try to clean it before using this sponge) led me to order it. It saved me. It was more elastic than I expected. Nagar immediately began removing with minimal smudging. Pressing a little harder on the acoustic blanket made it even cleaner, with some crumbling of the blanket or sponge. When one side got too smoky, I switched. Because I wanted to get everything as clean as possible, I ended up cutting the sponge into 6 pieces to use the clean sides. Then the sponge was a bit more crumbly, but it still worked. Now you can't even say Soot Pocalypse even happened. This sponge has saved me an incredible amount of time, hassle and money. Thanks very much!
