This is the third Python cable lock I have bought. I bought this one because it's longer than the others I have. I run the cable through 2 drainage holes on the kayak to attach to the car. He's perfect for that. The problem is all the Python cables I've bought have a horrible chemical smell. Also, after handling the cable, the odor gets on your hands. The smell goes away with soap and water. Cleaning the cable does not help. My old Python locks still smell, but not as bad as when they were new. These locks are about 2 years old. The smell is unmistakable. If the lock is anywhere in the room you are in, you will notice it. I wouldn't trust reviews that didn't mention an odor.
