I can play in it with my German Shepherd on shiny ice and never slip! In fact, it's easier to walk on ice than on dry asphalt. They are comfortable enough to walk 4 miles without even thinking about them. I even like the crunch they make when the spikes hit the ice. Just a word of warning, they are EXTREMELY slippery on the slick concrete in the garage and I have to take them off as soon as I walk through the door or I'll fall. I also have a pair of red rubber studs with short studs. They also work, but the rubber broke after a pair of socks. Also, shorter spikes clog up with snow more easily than long, sharp spikes. I would definitely get it again.
