My OEM key fob barely worked. I replaced the battery, stuck a paper clip into the keychain's new attachment point, melted a channel into the remaining plastic, and generally sorted out the stubborn nature of the blunt keychain. When I finally lost it because the key ring didn't fit perfectly, I ordered it. Putting the car into programming mode was PITA, but after that a few well-timed button presses on the remote took it over easily enough. I've already deformed the plastic around the opening tab which indicates the plastic used is about the same or even lower quality than the OEM unit so I'm not sure of durability over time. But after going through PITA, the process of putting my 2003 Toyota Avalon into pairing mode, with a combination of inserting and removing the key from the switch, opening and closing the driver's door, a few button presses to pair the remote, and everything works great both remotes. I've never had a key fob that just *works* for this car, my original (and so far only) key fob worked intermittently at best, at worst I stood by the door and pressed the unlock button multiple times. Although I haven't had them in a very long time, they just seem to work; whether my car has been standing for a few days or i just got out, the thing just works; Even when my car battery died, it still unlocked even though the engine was barely cranking. What can you say about your old one. I took off one star for the quality of the plastic, but I can recommend it. If the plastic breaks the case, few are cheap enough.
