Review on 🌞 WindyNation P30L 30A Solar Panel Charge Controller with LCD Display, Customizable Settings, and User-Friendly Interface by Edward Henderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a three stage charger but has good specs.

The good news is that 8 gauge wire can be connected to the unit. And it doesn't have bright LED lights to illuminate your space at night. It took me a few minutes to sit and play with the "mode" button to figure out how it works. (I quickly read the user manual, written in English by a native speaker and not an ESL student, so it's easy to understand.) You can set the maximum charging voltage. And if you drive the load directly through the controller, you can adjust the voltage drop to prevent over-discharge and battery damage. the screen does not light up. And to see the inscription, you have to look almost up close. This is a positive basis and means nothing for most marine and residential installations. I'm using this charge controller as a spare/backup regulator with negative ground, so its positive ground is fine. Now the bad news. This is NOT a three stage charger. You set the charging voltage and it will charge when there is enough sunlight. It will NOT automatically switch to boost or desulfation mode. You can set the charge voltage to 14.4 volts and it will continue to charge at that voltage until the battery burns out (or goes dark, whichever comes first). Or just set the max charge to 13.2 and forget about it. This is a "manual" charger. I don't like the color - it doesn't match or complement anything in her space. And I don't like the connector for the battery temperature sensor - the connector is on the top of the controller and sticks out almost two inches. This is unsightly and could be on the bottom of the controller along with other wires. I usually don't leave a review until I have received the product and used it for a while. However, the unit arrived today and I installed it quickly and easily. And since I already had a different brand of controller for my solar charging system, I could easily see a few pros and cons. I find it a bit overpriced as it's not a 3-step charger. It's definitely not a "set it and forget it" controller. I will update this review if any problems arise.
