They worked great without having to set up any controls on top of it.
I used these to install the Powermadd Star Series handguard http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AWPKM0 on my 2009 KLX250S. They worked great without having to adjust any of the controls on the stock steering wheel. Make sure to use Loctite once you've determined the position you want everything to stay in place as there are many places it can pull away from you. I installed them on the corner of the handlebars and was able to fully close the levers and grips.
