First of all, it runs small. I ordered a S/M hoping it wasn't too big because I'm definitely small and not medium. I didn't have to worry because it's very comfortable. The clasp is not cast - a cheap chain is wrapped around the ring. The chain is not smooth, I was afraid it would get caught on clothes. I didn't have to worry about this as the chain broke almost immediately - I only wore the belt for a few minutes, mainly to try it on, and when I went to remove it, the chain broke and started unraveling. I may regret it, but I've still decided to leave the belt on for now because it actually looks better without the chain; The chain was not only cheap, but rather tasteless. A plain ring looks fine, except for the glue where the chain was attached, which I tucked under the leather loop. I would not recommend this item. I'm surprised Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum make and sell stuff like this. It wasn't expensive but I would rather pay more and get a better product.
