Would not trust a cake in here

This is my first experience with a silicone pan. Figured I'd give it a try because ive heard such good things about them. Im now wondering if they're better suited for smaller molds. I baked some brownies in there just to test it out, and they turned out great.cooked thoroughly in the expected amount of time, but when pulling it out of the oven, the bottom dropped/sank and the brownies cracked all throughout of course. I didnt mind because it was just a test batch for the family to eat. But had i actually had a cake in there that i needed to decorate, it would have been ruined. I suppose you could set it on a baking sheet to provide a more stable bottom for it, but then flipping it out of the pan while keeping the bottom sturdy enough to not crack it would be difficult. I was really excited about this but became quickly disappointed when i realized i cant even use it for a cake. Womp womp. Also, after washing, it still smells like brownies.like a lot lol. Im not sure how clean it actually got. Why is it holding the smell so much? Maybe thats normal for the silicone dishes? Im not sure but i thought that was kinda weird. Anyway, idk im just not sure these silicone dishes are really meant for bigger items like cakes. If there's a trick to them, there was nothing in the box providing that much needed information so I would stick to traditional pans for cakes

Pros
  • The sleek, modern design of this cake pan makes it an attractive addition to any kitchen
Cons
  • The pan may require special cleaning products that are not commonly found in households
