This is only the second mustache wax I've tried so my basis for comparison is limited as is the length of my mustache. This is my benchmark situation where the longest hairs have not yet reached full handlebar length but are getting closer and the shorter hairs fall out. Although I wouldn't call it a VERY strong hold, this wax has a slightly stronger hold OAK CITY BEARD CO.'s "strong hold" ORIGINAL WAX. (Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, but no Microwax). For me, this product in question keeps the hair in place longer (a couple of hours in the best conditions), but it requires more wax than I would. Both waxes can be picked up EASY with your thumbnail, or even better with the edge of a comb, and applied directly that way, without heating or kneading by hand, which I think is a BIG plus. The odor is mild. , the smell of beeswax / lanolin. I actually prefer the OAK CITY scent (beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter) which I was hoping to mix into this one if it's too strong. A little bit higher. percentage of microwax in their recipe and this one would be a stronger hold - and probably just enough for me.
