I like them in theory but in practice they are not good enough for my tank. I was hoping to use them to elevate some plants so my turtles couldn't reach them while still sinking the roots, but that was wishful thinking. Of course turtles are very destructive and mine refuse to leave plants alive so it was very easy for them to just shove down those pots and destroy a plant that had sentimental value without even removing the pot from the side of the tank to remove. I decided to put them in the top dry part of the tank with no plants to fill with something else later. One night I heard a strange popping sound, realized it was coming from around the tank area, and found that on the tank drywall the suction had stopped on one of the two I had (after a full month in there) . ) and dropped. into a shattered tank. Luckily I managed to pick up all the pieces before my turtles found them and hurt themselves, but it was dangerous to search my sandy bottom for pieces of glass. I ended up throwing them both away. On the positive side, the glass has remained very clear! I think these are elegant and attractive little pots, but I would NOT recommend them for a turtle tank if your turtle is not at all interested in plants. My guess is that the suction lasts better underwater for longer, and I can confirm they will support the weight of some river rocks for growing medium! Just be very careful with this because the glass is quite thin, a bit thicker than a wine glass.
