I ran 50 miles I wear this pair, do fast runs during the week and some 13-15 mile runs. Also, as I said in the title, I'm confused by a product description that says "hiking shoes". This is definitely a trail running shoe. Their lugs (deep, chunky teeth on the outsole) are not designed for paved surfaces. But they can be quite suitable for hiking. Although hiking shoes/boots would be better for this, right? I'm not sure. I'm just a trail runner. Okay, now to the actual review: I've been a Saucony fan for many years and the Kinvaras were my favorite road shoe. When I first started making the switch to treadmills, I was tempted to stick with Saucony as it seemed logical that they would be more of a fit for me, even though Saucony isn't one of the most popular brands among trail runners. I've ridden about 500 miles on my Peregrine 8, including a 9.5 hour race, and had no problems. However, these 10 are a clear step forward. The materials look and feel much more advanced. It feels like they have a more form-fitting structure. I like that they use less thick lugs to keep dirt out. However, there is just as much lag as the older generation. Adding a stone slab is also fine. As a newbie to using a stone slab, I now naturally aim for sharp stones because it's kind of new to me that they don't pierce my leg. Even with the Flex, I couldn't find any significant disadvantages with the plate. I see there are a few negative reviews when it comes to the construction and I saw them for the 8 too. As for the 8 the criticism was that holes would form in the web around your fingers. I finally figured out this problem, but not in the first 400 miles. I was also happy to see that Saucony added extra padding on top of the 10 toes, which I think should have prevented this. If you are worried about the build but still want to buy them, I would buy them from your local store. The local shop will most likely take them back if you come back in a week or two with a problem that big, I believe they can also return them to their dealer. However, I have tried at least 10 pairs of Saucony shoes and found no manufacturing defects. In any case, I'm really excited about this improvement from Saucony as they seem to be serious about running shoes. I just hope that future iterations will be continuous improvements as opposed to what we're seeing with Kinvaras :/
