outrageous price at dealers. It's clear that you pay for what you get, but there's nothing you can do to avoid overspending when you really need it. In our case, when we bought a used car, we had an OEM key. I rely on it as a backup because many had no problems. I've already done this adventure with Toyota and everything went well. I wasn't so lucky this time. After about 20 minutes the dealership finished programming but they explained to me that the key didn't work like the original. As another reviewer noted, the buttons didn't perform the functions advertised on the key fob. None of the buttons worked with the remote start. Now the panic button opened the right sliding door. The only function that worked as advertised was the left sliding door and the key fob started the car. Why am I still happy? Because it's hanging in the key cabinet with a credit card-sized note talking about these changes and the fact that I have two extra hand keys sharpened to an emergency key, one in my wallet and the other at the bottom of my wife's purse. . If the keys are locked in the car - it doesn't matter. OEM keys get lost - I can always take it to the dealer and they will make you a new one based on your VIN, the original key fob is not needed.

Pros
  • expensive, but decent
Cons
  • confused
