First I took two large pots into the garage and used an electric grinder to sand the inside of the cooktop. I then put all 3 in the oven and ran a 3 hour self cleaning cycle. The pans come "pre-seasoned”, but I prefer to season with coconut oil. After a good 3 or 4 cooks and a few bacon cooks, these pans are as good or better than any of my old cast iron Lodge pans. The silicone grips are a nice bonus. Oh, and the lady who looked at them and said they were rusty - IT'S CAST IRON! Do not put in the dishwasher! Be generous with the oils for the first few uses and you'll be amazed at how evenly it cooks.
