Potential FIRE risk

It's been plugged in since I bought it, we leave it under our sofa for an awkward spot to charge our phones and put away when not in use. I noticed it got very hot and warned my wife not to leave it unattended which had to do with that. I think it's a fire hazard. I've never seen similar devices fail in this way.
