I designed, constructed and ran a Biosphere 2 barley forage growing experiment, recording CO2, light, temperature, relative humidity and wet biomass over a 10 day period. All data, except for biomass, were automatically recorded from digital monitors. The biomass was recorded manually every 8 hours. Therefore, it was important that the digital scale was a) accurate, b) highly sensitive, and c) stable so that at no point would the display go to sleep or the scale reset or we would lose our baseline that we were using to track the growth rate. Three of the four scales functioned properly, reading to within a few grams of other beds, all initiated within a few styes of 800g each. The fourth weighed about 100 grams a few days after the start of the trial. My concern was that the discrepancy would not be linear but rather remain constant, suggesting a forgotten calibration rather than an issue with the weight itself. work without external power. However, they do not switch to AC power when on battery power. And when running on AC power, they don't switch to battery power. It seems that this is so easy to do for the maximum laboratory scale, but it is not. As a result, we ran fully with the AC running while our AC supply itself was on backup (effectively saving data twice in ten days of operation). Overall, I highly recommend this product, from the packaging to the simplicity. Use for laboratory implementation.
